Netgear Installation Assistant: Configuration of EX7300 Range Extender

To connect your range extender with the Netgear installation assistant you have to:

  • Plug your Netgear EX7300 range extender into an electrical outlet and wait for a couple of minutes for the Power LED on your smart device becomes solid green.
  • Do not get worried if the Power LED does not light up. Simply push the Power (On/Off) button and the LED lights on your device will start blinking.

Connect a device (computer or a laptop) to the EX7300 range extender using a WiFi connection or an Ethernet cable:

  • For Wired connection: Connect your computer to the range extender using an Ethernet cable.
  • For WiFi connection: On your computer/ laptop, open the WiFi connection manager and connect to the extender WiFi network.
  • Once the connection with your device is successfully established, the LED Client Link light will flash.

After that, what you are going to do is to launch a web browser and type mywifiext or in its URL bar.

Important Note

If the mentioned web address doesn’t redirect you to the home page of Netgear Genie, then you can use instead.

Now, onto the displayed page, you have to click on ‘new extender setup’ button – complete all the required fields and click on ‘next’.

  • Don’t forget to verify the Extender/Access Point switch is set to Extender.
  • Click on ‘Continue’.
  • Select your main router’s WiFi network to extend.
  • Once done, click on ‘next’.

Important Note

If you don’t wanna extend both WiFi bands, then consider clearing the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz WiFi networks checkboxes.

  • Next, in the field of network key or password, enter your main router’s existing passphrase or security key.
  • Once done, click on ‘next’.
  • Now, for your Netgear EX7300 range extender, set a secure network name (SSID) and a strong password.
  • Once done, click on ‘next’.
  • Wait for some time for the page to display a list of available and active new extender WiFi networks.
  • After that, using the extender SSID and password – connect your WiFi-enabled device to the new extender WiFi network.

Important Notes

  • Do not click on ‘continue’ until and unless your WiFi-enabled device is successfully connected to the available WiFi network.
  • Once it is connected successfully, you can hit the ‘continue’ button.

After that, you will see that a message has been displayed confirming that your range extender is successfully connected and ready for use.

  • Here, you have to click on ‘next’ and when the registration page displays – simply complete the registration fields.
  • Finally, click on ‘finish’ to complete the Netgear extender setup’ process.

Important Notes

  • If you don’t wish to register your Netgear WiFi range extender, then you can click on the ‘skip registration’ link.
  • But if you want telephonic tech support, then registration of your Netgear device is required.
  • Now, when the status page displays – unplug your range extender and move it to a new location away from doors, windows, public WiFi, metal appliances, electronic gadgets, cordless phones, and Bluetooth speakers.
  • But the location you choose to place your Netgear extender must be within the range of your existing router.
  • Plug your Netgear extender into an electrical outlet.
  • Wait for the LED lights on your EX7300 illuminates solid green.
  • If it doesn’t, then make sure that Netgear extender firmware is up-to-date.
  • Also, make sure that your existing WiFi router carries the latest firmware of technology.
